Robert Brooke works with place conscious education through the Nebraska Writing Project. His 2003 book Rural Voices: Place-Conscious Education and the Teaching of Writing, explores place teaching in eight Nebraska communities. Courses he offers where students can do place-conscious work include

Tom GannonBesides writing extensively on ecocritical & animal-rights issues, Professor Gannon teaches several Native Literature courses that have a concerted place-based/eco-emphasis:
    * English 245E: Native American Literature(s)
    * English 245N: Native Women Writers
    * English 445E/845E: Native American Literature(s)
Tom also teaches a "unit" on ecocriticism in his Lit-Crit/Theory courses (ENGL 270, ENGL 471/871). In terms of literary theory, he hopes to popularize the "school" of zöocriticism.
